Plastering

Safeguarding properties against the elements for 40+ years – 01795 583 059

Damp, mould, and condensation won’t just lead to structural issues, they’ll also damage the appearance of your walls. Plasterwork can be damaged by high humidity or water ingress, making it essential to act quickly when these issues occur and to address the root cause of any problems. Our team has more than 40 years’ experience in the industry, working within both domestic and commercial properties. This makes us the right choice to handle moisture-damaged plaster and to minimise any disruption.

How issues can affect plaster?

Rising damp

Rising damp

Moisture rises up through the plasterwork from the ground, causing damage that first appears at the bottom of a wall. This form of damp can also produce salt deposits, as the soluble salts within groundwater are left behind on the surface of the plaster as moisture evaporates.

Penetrating damp

Penetrating damp

Because in this scenario moisture enters via structural defects such as cracks, leaks, or overflowing gutters, penetrating damp tends to be localised. There may be water stains or discoloured patches on the plaster surface, and these may be located higher on the wall.

Condensation

Condensation

Condensation forms when warm, moist air meets a cold surface, causing issues during winter or periods of cold weather. The plaster is likely to be damp to the touch, especially in corners, windows, or behind furniture, and you may also notice mould growing on the surface.

What are the signs of compromised plaster?

There are a number of warning signs that plaster has been damaged by moisture. You should contact our team on 01795 583 059 or by emailing info.targetdamp@gmail.com if you notice:

We can inspect your property to determine the cause of the issue, extent of the damage, and best approach to rectifying any affected areas.

How do we treat damaged plasterwork?

Eliminate moisture sources

We will find and address the structural defect, leak, or lack of ventilation that has introduced the unwanted moisture. It’s important that the plaster is then allowed to dry out fully.

Remove damaged plaster

Any damaged plaster will be removed, taking things back to the brickwork. If needed, we may also apply a treatment to ensure the issue has been fully addressed.

Replaster the surface

The surface can be replastered and made good, ready for decorating. We will ensure that any signs of previous damage have been eliminated successfully.

Take future precautions

Depending on the cause of the issue, we will implement suitable control measures to prevent future issues. You’ll receive peace of mind that we’ve put a lasting solution in place.
