What issue can affect timber?
Dry rot
Dry rot
Dry rot is a fungal infection that thrives in damp timber. It’s particularly dangerous because it spreads aggressively and quickly, allowing it to impact dry surfaces and brickwork. As with the other key issues affecting timber, poor ventilation and increased moisture content produce the conditions dry rot needs to develop.

How do we treat damaged or compromised timber?
Eliminate moisture sources
We will address the underlying source of any moisture, ensuring that the conditions which have led to rot or infestation are eliminated.
Remove damaged timber
Any affected timber will be removed and replaced. In the case of dry rot we may also need to replace other materials such as plaster and brickwork.
Apply a chemical treatment
A suitable fungicidal, insecticidal, or preservative treatment will be applied to the surrounding area. This will eliminate remaining fungal spores or beetle larvae.
Take future precautions
We will implement suitable measures to improve ventilation and control moisture within the affected area, preventing the issue from recurring.
